Behind The Scenes Of Showbiz & Sakarias ‘Handle This (Adrien Mezsi Mix)’

Fast rising Serbian duo Showbiz have been making monumental strides since they exploded onto the Dance music scene. With a release catalogue that includes hit singles like ‘Ye Mele’, it comes as no surprise that A-List stars such as Fedde Le Grand, Dannic, Marcus Schossow, Nari & Milani and Wayne & Woods have been championing their work.

Their collaborator Sakarias, residing in Morocco, has also been causing huge waves, thanks to his unique Electro thrillers including ‘Let’s Rock’. Our friends over at Matt Caldwell PR caught up with Showbiz and Sakarias to talk about their latest collaboration ‘Handle This’, which was released on Adrien Mezsi‘s Mezsed Up Records imprint. Here’s the conversation.

Hi guys, thanks for taking time to answer these few questions. For those who aren’t familiar with you, can you tell us a bit out yourselves?

Showbiz: Hi, thanks for having us! We are a DJ/Producer duo from Serbia and we have been working together for about 3 years now. When we started, our main influences were the Swedish House Mafia, who we think have influenced the whole wave of upcoming producers nowadays to dive into the world of DJing and production.

Sakarias: Hi, it’s a pleasure for us to answer your questions. So, I’m Zakaria from Morocco and I have been producing music for about 6 years under other pseudonyms. I paused producing in 2012 for 2 years and I have returned with a new alias ‘Sakarias’.

You have recently just released your newest single ‘Handle This’. How did the collaboration come about?

Showbiz: We have been in touch with Zack through Facebook cause he liked our previous track with Divolly & Markward, ‘Ye Mele’ on Void Records and we liked his track ‘Let’s Rock’ which was released on Beatmashr. He sent us an idea and we went from there.

Sakarias: ‘Handle This’ comes from an old project that I was working on 2 years ago. I put just the idea with live percussions and a short percussive synth, but I didn’t advance on it. Then Showbiz and I decided to bring it to the next level.

How would you describe a typical Showbiz & Sakarias track using only five words?

Showbiz: Energetic, groovy, fresh, melodic, catchy.

Sakarias: And sexy hahah!

Handle This’ was released on Adrien Mezsi’s label Mezsed Up, Can you tell us a bit about the story behind signing the track to the label and why you decided to sign it to them?

Showbiz: Some time before we finished the track, Adrien announced that he was launching his own label. We loved his style, especially the track ‘Raverz’ with Henrix, which was still unreleased at the time, and we instantly thought that ‘Handle This’ could fit Mezsed Up’s style. Adrien loved the track and it was all settled.

Can you tell us a bit about your workflow whilst producing ‘Handle This’? How did you start the production?

Showbiz: As we mentioned before, Sakarias sent us an idea with live percussions and a short percussive synth which reminded us of the old Abel Ramos style. We reworked the drop a bit and since the main vibe of the track was reminiscent of old school house music, we decided to write a piano riff backed by breakbeat drums.

What do you enjoy the most about producing? Programming drums, writing melodies?

Showbiz: Writing the melodies is definitely our favorite part, mostly because we come from a musician background.

Sakairas: Both, it’s depend on my inspiration.

Do you guys mix and master your own productions or do you get help from an engineer?

Showbiz: We like to do the mixing ourselves and get the mastering done by an engineer, someone who hasn’t listened to the track a thousand times like we did and will bring an extra touch to it.

Sakarias: I do the mixing by myself and then I send the track to some friends (whom acquire a performant studio step) so they can give me their opinions. After getting the best mixdown possible, I send the track to get mastered by an engineer.

‘Handle This’ reached #52 in the Beatport Progressive House chart. How did you guys feel when you first heard the news?

Showbiz: ‘Handle This’ is our first entry on the Beatport chart and it felt great seeing our name in the company of the big guys of the music industry.

Sakarias: I was very happy to see my name climbing in the Beatport Chart for the first time.

Aside from hitting the charts, ‘Handle This’ was also supported by some big names: D.O.D, Don Diablo, Delayers, JES, Askery, Max Vangelis and Will K amongst others. How does it feel to receive credit from such heavyweights and how does it motivate you to move forward?

Showbiz: The support we get from fellow upcoming producers and the already established names in the scene is one of the reasons why we know we are on the right track and that’s what makes us work harder.

Sakarias: I’m content with this achievement, it’s gives me motivation to deliver more music and get the best of me.

(Showbiz) This has not been the only success you had recently. Following the release of ‘Handle This’, you’ve done a collaboration with Divolly & Markward on a free download release called ‘Sicario’ which got quickly supported by Kryder. What can you tell us about this?

Showbiz: ‘Sicario’ is just one of those tracks that click instantly. We found the main sample on a compilation of Brazilian music (same one where ‘Ye Mele’ was as well, funnily) and had an idea set up quite quickly. After 3 all-night studio sessions with Divolly & Markward, the track was done. Also, it was great seeing that after Dannic premiered the track on Front of House radio, it was labeled as an ID by Kryder, Tom Staar and The Wulf.

(Showbiz) How was it working with Divolly & Markward? Any other teamups with them coming up?

Showbiz: Divolly & Markward are Vladimir Pavlovic and Marko Zivanovic, our really good friends from Belgrade, Serbia. We’ve got tremendous charisma and chemistry going with these fellas and they are someone who you can expect to hear a lot more from in the coming months. We’ve currently got 2 more projects started and we are very excited for the future.

What can we expect in terms of future releases, gigs and plans from you guys?

Showbiz: When it comes to our future plans, we have just finished a track with our bro Farrel, a producer from Bosnia, and also started a project together with two big names in the scene which you’ll hear about soon, so stay tuned!

Sakarias: I’m working on an orchestral hymn with my bro Hamza, for our College, I’m also working on a groovy remix of an old track by a big name that you will all recognize. Stay tuned! peace!”
