NAATIONS: Aussies In LA

Are you familiar with Nat Dunn and Nicky Routledge, also known as the Aussie and currently Los Angeles based duo act NAATIONS? In a nutshell, Nat delivers powerful vocals and Nicky provides the sounds. It’s a killer combination of talent truth be told. It’s been written that they exhibit the musical swagger reminiscent of M.I.A., Eliphant, Rihanna and Rudimental. Intrigued? You should be and here’s why. There is a good chance that you know and have heard of the huge hit from 2017 titled “Real Life.” The track, featuring Gorgon City and Duke Dumont, served as an Ibiza anthem, so if you don’t know it, take a moment and search it out. And while you’re at it, I encourage you to check out their debut EP “Teardrop.” The 6 track EP features the iLoveMakkonen collaboration “Long Time,” “Keep It Real” and “History” —both produced by frequent collaborator Baby Daddy of Scissor Sisters and a previously released track “Air & Water,” produced by Alex Metric. They’ve graced some of the most iconic stages on both sides of the Atlantic including NYC’s Outpost, London’s Brixton Academy and XOXO, as well as debuting at CRSSD Festival. Moving on to current events, Dunn and Routledge have recently teamed up with producer Hayden James to release a crafty merging of styles that ultimately morphed in to an infectious radio and club friendly track titled “Nowhere To Go.” Speaking to the track, Nat and Nicky comment “We met Hayden last year in LA and he played us a demo he’d written the night before and it sparked a memory of one of our demos we wrote two years before in Sydney. We worked them together in one day and we had a song, which was crazy!” Additionally, NAATIONS will be the supporting act for Hayden James’ Australian and U.S. legs of his “Between Us” Headline Tour beginning this September in Houston. Getting back to the new single “Nowhere To Go,” it’s being positioned and set up as another “Summertime” smash and gives a glimpse of what is to come with their forthcoming “Star” EP.
