MC Hammer, Bassnectar, Infected Mushroom and the Kaya Project are just a few acts the Australian musician known as Opiuo has been associated with over the course of his career. Described as the “chief sufferer of intense musical addiction,” Opiuo has unleashed new music—two tracks from the forthcoming EP “Syzygy 01,” and has announced a tour across America showcasing his captivating live show this April and May.
The 2014 recipient of NZ Music Awards “Electronic Album Of The Year” for “Meraki,” and most recently (2016), a Finalist for “Electronic Album Of The Year” for “Omniversal,” delivers two bombastically deep cuts in “Botrok” and “Ginger Lizard” (listen below) to give fans a just a sampling of what to expect from the new release and it is funky and greasy with heavy duty beats and rhythms that keep you rockin’. Both tracks are great precursors of what is to still to come off the 5 track EP.
Live, Opiuo is known for presenting an “ever evolving feast for the ears,” whether it is a “one man show equipped with drum machines and synths” or the incarnation of The Opiuo Band, a gathering of the worlds best musician’s primed to perform his music 100% live. The US Tour kicks off in Philadelphia on April 12th with coast to coast shows running into May and includes stops in Washington, DC, Columbus, Reno, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle.
