Romaan: Behind The Scenes-“Assassin”

Resident for the famous COYA group, Romaan is surely becoming one of the most exciting names in the House and Tech House scene. With over 50,000 listeners online Romaan is becoming more and more in demand. Some of his most popular releases include tracks such as “Groovin,” “Sumbatra” and now “Assassin,” we caught up with Romaan to find out some exclusive behind the scenes information.

What was the inspiration behind “Assassin?”

Romaan: I wanted to make a track that’s more intriguing and slightly darker than my previous tracks. I wanted the listeners to feel the anxiety and the excitement of the drop at the same time.

How would you describe ‘Assassin’ to those who haven’t heard it yet?

Romaan: Close your eyes and imagine that someone is following you, you can’t see his face, as everything around you is dark, the only thing you know is that you have to escape. You are going through the crowd in a nightclub; you can’t see anything, stuck between darkness and flashing lights.

How was your experience creating this track? Did you face any difficulties?

Romaan: I found the vocals and it inspired me the track. It’s always tricky to make a production that will be appreciated by the public. I always start with a beat I like and then I rearrange it to make it sound more pumping.

What was it like working with PinkStar Records?

Romaan: I was super happy that they decided to sign the track. They are extremely professional. I’ve had amazing exposure thanks to them, EDX played “Assassin” twice on his radio show and I’m so thankful for that.

Do you have your eye on anyone for a collaboration at the moment?

Romaan: I’m already working on a project, so no time for any collaboration yet!

How would you say your music has evolved over the last year?

Romaan: The thing is, I love every single type of music, especially the emotion that comes with it. I produce music every day and it ends up being so different each time. Obviously I produce mainly House and I love to keep a groovy drop to get people moving.

Have you got any gigs coming up soon?

Romaan: I’m resident in COYA London (Mayfair and Angel Court), I play every week and every weekend. As the brand is based also in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Monaco, I’m also traveling around the world to DJ too!

Tell us a little bit more about your new duo project?

Romaan: My new project is a duo called The Lords. My friend Tony Cortez and I decided last year to work together, we wanted to have common project as we’ve known each other for ages. We wanted to produce and play together. You can follow us on the social media at @thelordsaroundme.

Can you give us an exclusive for what you are working on next?

Romaan: Of course! Actually, I’ve been working on an EP for COYA music label; the feel of it is much more Down Tempo. It was released on the 18th of July!

Finally, where can people go to purchase “Assassin?”

Romaan: On all download and streaming platforms: ITunes, Apple Music, Beatport, Spotify… And I really hope you guys will like “Assassin!”
