For almost 30 years, Peter De Lisi and Alex Carpentieri, two guys making disco, house and techno music under the stage name System of Survival. S.O.S. are just as fresh and innovative now with their live sets and music as they were way back in 1989. Both have a deep, long knowledge of house and techno traditions, expertise in creating set lists and producing party inducing music, earning them the dubious title as “a DJ’s DJ.” Over the years, Peter and Alex have entertained thousands as part of the DC10 crew at the iconic Circoloco, as well as spinning for sold out crowds at Berlin’s Panorama Bar & Watergate, NYC’s Verboten and Output, Tokyo’s Womb and London’s Fabric, just to name a few high profile venues.
The duo share a common commitment to style beyond what’s trendy and ease in mixing the old with the new. Alex explains, “Our sets have never really fit to one particular style or type, Peter has a Soul and Funk background whereas mine is more Detroit or Chicago techno inspired, so when we play it’s a real blend of the styles, making something completely different, something new.”
Peter and Alex have created an extensive and impressive back catalogue of music crossing many styles and genres. LPs, EPs, Singles and remixes, numbering in the dozens, have been released on big indie labels like Get Physical, BPitch Control, IRecords and Rebirth to name a few. Additionally, you can find System of Survival music through their label imprints I71 and Fventi. On the last Thursday of each month at Barcelona’s famed Macarena Club, plays venue host for a special event thrown by Peter and Alex. “SOundScape” is a curated music program placing the spotlight on sounds, inspirations, rhythms and concepts that are generally outside the dance floor norm by bringing in internationally known DJs to share their own unique mixture of sounds, beats and styles. This monthly event has recently been picked up as a weekly show broadcasted by Ibiza Sonica Radio.
